LCD Flat TV -High-Definition TV’s Overview
One of the hottest inventions hit the television industry over the last decade – LCD flat TV.
For most of us brought up on the original black & white televisions, the blossoming technological breakthrough which is unfolding is beyond our comprehension.
What we can realize, it is almost ideal image superiority of LCD high-definition (HD) TV offers us. Some deliver Internet features and 3D effects (additional equipment is required).
Good example is Samsung LN40C630 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV which you can check out by clicking HERE.
There are 3 key parameters of LCD TV:
- Frame size in pixels is defined as number of horizontal pixels x number of vertical pixels, for instance: 1280×720 or 1920×1080. Frequently the number of horizontal pixels is implied from context and skipped, as in the case of 720p & 1080p.
- Scanning system is recognized with the letter p for progressive scan or letter i for interlaced scanning.
- Frame ratio is identified as the number of video frames per second. Different form to indicate the number of fields per second is frequently used for interlaced systems.
The frame ratio is usually skipped and is implied from context (i.e., a 1080p HDTV) for commercial naming of a product.
HDTV has the linear resolution at least twice as much as of a standard-definition television (SDTV), which shows more detail than either analogue TV or standard DVD.
720p frame is typically used for Internet broadcasting of HD video, as the majority computer monitors work in progressive-scan mode. Additionally 720p frame imposes fewer demanding storage and decoding requirements in comparison to both 1080i & 1080p. 1080p is commonly used for Blu-ray Disc.
The ideally flat display offers great viewing abilities from wider angles than the regular TVs and not distort the picture. The color is also totally ideal. Today’s LCD flat TV screen has ability to display millions of color shades. Many LCD displays are also made with an anti-reflective coating and unique filters to further enhance the picture.
They have another important feature as well – a wide screen ratio that allows movies to be displayed in the proper format.
Which is the same kind we are accustomed to in the cinema. Regular televisions distort the image to some extent, and that’s the reason why at times you’d see
the images cut in half or black bars top and bottom of the monitor, etc.
An additional big advantage of the LCD flat TV is incredibly fashionable
look and size. It takes up much a lesser amount of room than a regular TV
and can be mounted to a wall or a ceiling. Overall depth isn’t more than 4 inches,
and leaner designs in sizes to fit in with any living or display space are coming soon.
You might need some other equipment in order to view high-definition picture on HDTV (HDMI cable to connect a DVD player, etc.).
High-definition image sources include terrestrial broadcast, direct broadcast satellite, digital cable, IPTV, high-definition Blu-ray video disk (BD), Internet downloads, Blu-ray disk compatible Sony PlayStation three video game console (PS3) & Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game console.
Most popular LCD TV brands on the market today are Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio. Check out some top rated LCD TV’s by CLICKING HERE.
